USB Safely Remove 5.2.1.1195 (UPDATE)
I've long ago done with using the Safely Remove USB feature in Windows because it doesn't seem to make much difference whether you remove items "safely" or not.
However, it's not recommendable to always do this because, eventually, you could end up damaging one of your external drives through corruption of data. Safely Remove is a convenient and multifunctional replacement for the standard Safely Remove Hardware icon and it ideal for those who don't want to take risks when removing and connecting USB devices.
One useful feature of Safely Remove is that unlike Windows, it does not create a drive letter for cameras and other devices that are connected but do not contain a memory card - this avoids confusion when you've got one or more devices connected. The drive letter support in general is excellent as it also allows you assign letters and eject drives.
However, the usefulness of Safely Remove doesn't extend much beyond these features but for anyone that's constantly attaching USB drives, it's an excellent option.
